The Research Park was established in 1982 to create, develop, and promote a community of scientific excellence and innovative technology by providing an atmosphere conducive to these activities.

frontdive3.jpgThe Research Park was established in 1982 to create, develop, and promote a community of scientific excellence and innovative technology by providing an atmosphere conducive to these activities.  The second phase of the Research Park development is now complete, with tenants occupying six buildings and over 310,000 square feet of space.

The Research Park integrates the resources of Texas A&M University, a growing community, and a number of private companies. Our research-based companies and organizations benefit from the proximity to Texas A&M’s academic resources, while the university benefits from the enhanced facilities and productivity of research activities. Ultimately, these accelerate the dissemination and transfer of new technologies to commercial applications. The Research Park:

  • offers sites with easy access to Texas A&M University—its faculty, facilities, and talent base;
  • locates companies in the heart of a community with a progressive eye toward technology, new business development, and future endeavors;
  • increases the quality and number of high-technology professionals, encouraging cross-business, and cross-industry relationships

By turning partnerships between the university, the community and private companies into successful businesses and research ventures, the Research Park is able to accelerate the dissemination and transfer of new technologies.  This, in turn, enhances the quality and productivity of research activities at Texas A&M University and the Research Park.

The Research Park Office coordinates these efforts by seeking out and attracting companies whose goals and businesses meet the criteria and covenants of the Research Park.  Working with company representatives, the Research Park Office aids prospective tenants in meeting their office and research needs, helping to select the appropriate building or leasing plan.  Sites in the Research Park are signed for a long-term lease, either to companies or to private developers.  Companies can construct their own building or lease space in a multi-tenant building.  Whether companies build or lease, the Research Park Office offers complete technology and facility support, in many cases leveraging Texas A&M University facility capabilities for tenant use.

The Research Park offers the perfect setting for conducting, developing, testing and disseminating research.  The activities undertaken by the Research Park Office and the Research Park tenants highlight the level of commitment and cooperation both sare in making research a reality.

  • The Research Park facilitates operating of the world's largest wave basin that creates waves, winds and currents to simulate the condotopms facing deep-water structures.
  • The Research Park is the site for a core repository that houses over 50 miles of rock and sediment core samples taken from the ocean floor.
  • Research into transportation systems is conducted by developing, testing, and integrating new technologies into systems of several major cities across th nation from a fully operational transportation management center located in the Research Park.
  • Over 2,000 meat and poultry inspectors are trained at the Research Park each year on the latest procedures and methods.
  • Software development, training and distribution of research products in fields ranging from industrial manufacturing to food safety to commercial multimedia are coordinated through a number of tenants of the Research Park.
  • Full research and teaching laboratory facilities for global positioning systems, geographic information systems and remote sensing are mainteaned in the Research Park.

The further success and development of the Research Park is reflected in the commitment and cooperation of university personnel and the Research Park occupants.  Through partnerships, student internships, training and consulting, the Research Park tenants and Texas A&M Unvirsity work with each other to further research and technology development.
