StarVision Receives Texas Emerging Tech Fund Grant Award
Funds Help Business Get Satellite Technology to Market and Manufacture in the Research Valley
RESEARCH VALLEY – StarVision Technologies, Inc. of College Station has been awarded $750,000 from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund to complete its SpeedStar™ product, a revolutionary new altitude determination sensor system that improves the performance and reduces costs for satellites. An aerospace research and development company, StarVision is one of the original spin-off technology companies under Texas A&M University System’s new initiative to increase the commercialization of its intellectual property.
“This investment from the Emerging Technology Fund accelerates the growth of StarVision Technologies and leverages our capacity to attract and create new, high-value jobs in the aerospace industry which will form the future technology backbone of the Texas economy,” said Michael Jacox, President/CEO of StarVision Technologies. “The Research Valley provides every key ingredient needed to support a robust technology enterprise,” says Jacox. “It’s a tremendous environment for working -- and living - - and as we grow, the place we plan to remain.”
StarVision has close collaborations with aerospace industry experts at Texas A&M University and Prairie View A&M University enabling the company to maintain a competitive edge in its target markets and attract the involvement of talented students who gain from real-world activities. The company will become a client of the Research Valley Innovation Center, a science and technology incubator/accelerator recently established by The Research Valley Partnership and various Texas A&M University System entities to support early-stage companies. With this award, StarVision also is provided assistance from the Houston Technology Center Acceleration program.
The Texas Emerging Technology Fund is a valuable tool in helping promising new venture companies get off the ground faster to commercialize high-tech products. “The Research Valley Partnership is proud to support StarVision Technologies. We congratulate StarVision for their efforts on advancing their innovations and receiving the State’s investment funds. The Partnership and its Alliance members are pleased that a portion of awarded funds will support StarVision’s expansion into new facilities providing a manufacturing component for satellite subsystems in College Station,” said Harold Strong, Chairman of The Research Valley Partnership. “As an early investment partner in StarVision, an Emerging Technology Fund award is a validation by the State of Texas of our own commitment and belief in the company’s competitiveness and business potential,” said Todd McDaniel, President/CEO of the Research Valley Partnership.
StarVision Technologies is committed to innovative research and development supporting the unmanned vehicle, government and commercial satellite and advanced missile system markets in the aerospace industry. “This investment from the Emerging Technology Fund helps our researchers continue to bring innovative technologies such as SpeedStar™ to the marketplace,” said Guy Diedrich, Vice Chancellor for Technology Commercialization for the Texas A&M University System. “We look forward to continuing our work with StarVision to develop more exciting, cutting-edge technologies for use in the aerospace industry.”
